Effect of Prior Oxidation on the Reduction Behavior of Magnetite-Based Iron Ore During Hydrogen-Induced Fluidized Bed Reduction

Abstract Magnetite-based iron ore usually shows a high sticking tendency and poor reducibility in the fluidized bed because of its dense structure. To enhance fluidization reduction behaviors magnetite-based during hydrogen-induced reduction, effect prior oxidation treatment is investigated. The results show that untreated cannot be successfully tested temperature range between 600 °C 800 °C. At temperature, de-fluidization can avoided by treatment. higher temperatures, behavior further improved an addition 0.5 wt pct MgO. Magnesiowüstite (Fe x Mg 1− O) formed, which decreases contact chance sticky surface particles. Regarding to rate, partial more beneficial compared deep oxidation. kinetic analysis MgO could promote initial reaction. reaction rate limiting step no longer diffusion but chemical for partly oxidized samples. A combined with considered promising pretreatment method successful processing ore.
